Sharon J. Ross, MCIAT
FREELANCE
ARCHITECTURE
Sharon has
over 15 years experience in private
practice and has gained the respect of
clients, staff and colleagues for her
excellent knowledge of construction
detailing and the proactive and practical
way in which she works.
Sharon has
helped develop and establish several
technical teams, and is highly regarded
by principal residential and commercial
clients that she works with and also by
design and build contractors.
Competent
in AutoCAD 2005, Sharon approaches all of
projects in a professional and organised
fashion with good humour and a positive
team ethic. Her approach, together with
the high quality of production
information, ensures that her clients
receive a consistent service regardless
of the scale or complexity of the project
in hand from post-planning to
practical completion, inclusive
of site responsibilities.
CONSTRUCTION
DETAILING
....
Sharon's
reputation for the provision of high
quality detailed construction information
is second to none. She has specifically
developed a practice in order to provide
clients with a service that is
comprehensive in all areas of a
Technologist's appointment. Concept
designs and planning proposals should be
evolved with detailed knowledge of the
building regulations and construction
detailing to ensure that the
architectural and design proposals are
capable of implementation.
Sharon
approaches all projects this way and with
a blend of the appropriate expertise
applied to each scheme at the right time,
she negates the potential to redesign and
resubmit a scheme that may already have a
planning consent.
She has an
excellent track record in dealing with
planning applications and her current
clients recognise the benefits of
appointing a Technologist who understands
master planning, planning and is both
innovative and technically astute.
Sharon's
expertise spans from small private
residential projects to large social
housing, commercial, store fit-outs, and
industrial projects, with a variety of
construction methods, inclusive of
traditional build, timber, steel or
concrete frame. In additon, she is very
well knowledged in current Building
Regulations, as well as other standards,
such as, the Robust Details, Lifetime
Homes, Scheme Development Standards, and
Secured by Design, to name a few.
DESIGN
MANAGEMENT
Sharon has found
that many offices, and in
particular residential
developers, experience the same
problems from the inception of
projects and they are frequently
very costly. Through forums it is
clear that there is a need for a
management role that sweeps up
and addresses all the recurring
issues. The only debate appears
to be whether or not this should
be handled by an internal or
external consultant. Sharon has
developed a design management
model on a much wider level to
take preventative measures aimed
at eradicating needless
additional costs through forward
planning and management. This
role has become increasingly more
difficult for developers to
handle in-house due to extensive
work loads and intense programmes
and is possibly outside the
normal remit of the
developers technical team. |

this suggested role, please see

selection of recurring problems
that Sharon's service is aimed at
eradicating:
